Post by spike1907 »

Ok so I am working on a map. (duh)

My problem is that the STL modifier says zero errors. I spent around 3 hours searching by hand for degenerate triangles and found none. But tool still says that there are 254 degenerate tris and 3 edges cannot be updated.

So I did what I was supposed to do and import the .wrl that tool created. Unfortunatly none of the geometry that was imported matched up with my maps geometry. The wrl was indicating edges and triangles that did not even exist and in some cases it would show triangles that were intersecting large portions of my main mesh.

So the WRL is wrong and Tool is wrong. What can I do???

did you uncheck the three boxes when you imported your wrl?

If it where a small number of errors I would say to look where the geometry is pointing at because maybe at one angle you'll find triangles that 3ds max sometimes creates.

But since you have over 200 degenerates I would suggest just restarting.

You only uncheck the first two, if you uncheck the last one it won't import anything that you can actually see.

Degenerate triangles are just triangles with no area, most of them are cause by triangles with 2 vertices occupying the same point in space

(o/t: Wtf is up with Firefox's dictionary? It doesn't have the word vertices in it! It's the proper plural form of vertex!)

Yeha,

How do you run an STL check with Gmax?

It still works for me if I uncheck all of them.
