[FTP] Slow FTP (Partially fixed)
I am currently having issues with my FTP program. I use SmartFTP and have recently experienced HORRIBLE transfer times from PC to Xbox. Why is this, and is there any way to fix it? I really can't transfer anything anymore, it takes over two hours.
I connect to xbox, navigate to my MAPS directory, then overwrite the current map with my modded one. It begins with a speed of 500 kb/s and slows from there to about 5 kb/s. It used to take less than two seconds to get a map from PC to xbox.

Thats pretty fast.nintendo9713 wrote:I was on xbox-scene, and this guy forwarded his ports and opened port 21 and was hitting 12 Megabytes per second, but I don't know how. Anyone with knowledge of a router might be able to post a tutorial.

I've had the same problem before. Try uninstalling and reinstalling SmartFTP. Try unchecking the PASV button, makes mine go faster with it unchecked.
That's right, I'm a part of Team Lost Mods. Team Lost Mods! I'm actually known as Arne Saknussemm

opening and forwarding ports is exactly thesame...nintendo9713 wrote:I was on xbox-scene, and this guy forwarded his ports and opened port 21 and was hitting 12 Megabytes per second, but I don't know how. Anyone with knowledge of a router might be able to post a tutorial.
i've had similar problems like this though.. it'd only happen when i ftp-ed into me E:\apps folder, whenever i replaced my old version of XBMC with a new one.. this also happened to 2 other guys where i've tried installing XBMC.. pretty messed up
don't have any idea whether it works now or not, it's only the E drive that makes slow transfer... i only use F drive mostly

Well, I'll try unchecking PASV. Although I bet its the ethernet cables. Mine are old, and can be a bit screwy sometimes.
EDIT: It wasn't the cables, i got new ones from a friend and same problem

My pal had this problem too. Right after he first modded his xbox, luckily for some odd reason it started working 20X as fast. (for the record use flashfxp because it is 4X faster than most any other ftp programs out there) try either buying a shorter ethernet cable or make sure yours is not faulty as suggested above.

Slow_Xfer FTP
similar prob, changed the gateway(evox.ini) from (192.168.0.100<<xbox default gateway, to xxx.xxx.x.1)<---router's default gateway & Ip addy(to xxx.xxx.x.105) dns optional (XBL), then configured router & router firewall to allow LAN between the two(port:21) (just in case), all are STATIC of course, then all PC's on LAN tcp/ip settings accordingly. also configure router filter to DISallow xbox internet(wan) privileges( If u dont use XBL) You dont need any extra network pull if you dont use it. it jumped from (LAN) 745 KBS to 5000+ kbs (yes i have actually seen it reach 15000 before~thought it was norm atm. lol~). maybe before you start, you should get the winsock tcp/ip fix @ http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html (will rebuild ur stack from scratch) to assure wide open connectivity & apply it first. If you ARE running static Ip, after you apply the fix, you will get a limited or no connectivity notice.... dont sweat it, soon as you reconfigure ur tcp/ip settings (static) it will reconnect. DHCP server is NOT reccomended for this xbox get-up BTW. USB cables are a nice new alternative rather than the conventional RJ-45 network cable as well (modem>>router>>PC). also if you have more than 1 xbox on ur LAN, try unplugging the other 1 while U FTP. Disable firewall & security center and run an 'msconfig' to make sure there arent any un-neccissary network apps that aim for the net on windows start-up. use xnetstat (optional for 1.5+ gig cpu's) make sure packet sniffer is disabled in xnetstat Pro, it tends to use lot of cpu. to make sure you have no leechers tugging on ur connection while U work. If you are running zone_alarm firewall, make sure ur trusted zone servers arent locked nor ur host file, make sure ur ftp has FULL access to network (servers too) and check to make sure all ur apps have proper permissions to leave or not (lock-em down lol). also i've seen the Time_wait disconnect time in the QOS packet scheduler adjusted for busters who like to hit you w/ ack (but thats a whole other TUT)(this will mostly affect ur WAN anyway), although you can also adjust ur up & down bandwidth speeds while ur there and this will impact ur whole network (for expert users). Anywho, I dont know if any of this will help you or not, just thought i'd share, maybe U shld play around w/ it, see what works best 4 U

Ok, now a couple days L8ter and a little more thought on the subject. The evox auto installer i believe SID latest edition (v4), comes with a KICK ASS FTP *props 2 tha m8kr* seen around 10,000 kbs. then after the installation and the full evox is on, I heard you're forced to use their ftp, i've seen noticable slower speeds(it dropped from 10K to 3K!![real $hit]) and it hesitates to connect sometimes.
**My other suggestion** ...
if ur running evox, use the app launcher to launch the installer's ftp program (file Manager). Or you could also just install the auto installer and choose the second install option, then it will boot the auto installer everytime you turn on ur box w/ ur dvd tray out. Then simply goto the file manager. it is FAST.
