I think it's motion capture. It looks too natural to be made pureley without referrence to real humans.Hawaiian Modder wrote:Also, in the scene with the marine running away from the elite, the animation looks very wierd.

Reminds me of that German (?) Machinima from a member around here. It's called Halo Wars
Anyways, even though that was CG, it looked amazing! (Though, the FAQ did say it used a lot of in-game models) I am definatley looking forward to this. Peter Jackson's new gaming studio also announced an un-named Halo title at X06 that will defy anything we've ever seen in a video game. (Brand New IP [Intellectual Property], so the rumors were right.)

I think it might be a mistake to have an RTS on Xbox 360. When it comes to strategy a controller cannot match a mouse.
Most games do, expet StarCraft that is, that ones a classic. But we'll just have to wait and see, speaking of wich, when does it come out?Ombre wrote:Most RTS games are lame, they end up being cool for like a hour, then they just suck.

Knowing Ensemble Studios (and I do) it will be a GREAT game. The name is equally as lame as the game looks awesome. Oh, and don't get your hopes up about the graphics. All Ensemble games have beautifuly rendered cutscenes and stuff, but the graphics are much less. Play Age Of Empires 2. It owns Star-Craft. Empire Earth is even better.
No animated avatars soz...Read the rules next time please.

That's only half true.Si1v3rFir3 wrote:Oh, and don't get your hopes up about the graphics. All Ensemble games have beautifuly rendered cutscenes and stuff, but the graphics are much less.
Q: Is the trailer pre-rendered?
A: Yes, and it's based around our world concepts and uses lots of in-game models. The sound and music were done at Ensemble Studios as well. Props to our friends at Blur for bringing it all together and making it really shine.
The only things that'll look different may be some effects. The models will be the same. Now can you people stop saying wrong things so I don't have to come correct them?

I'm a huge fan of RTS games...Red Alert 2 probably being the best I've play'd...StarCraft was OK, Rise of Nations was pretty good...
I'm slightly disturbed by HaloGen's cancellation...It's one thing to stop it when it starts, or when you find out about it...But HaloGen's been around for along while, alot of good works gone into it...Only to have it stopped when you decide you want to enter that market?..That would be like MS sending this site a C&D letter at this point...It's alittle late, and alot of good work and effort would be lost...
As for HaloWars, it will fail...Making an RTS work on a console may be possible, but limiting it only to a console when all fans of the genre use PC's, will be a marketing failure if you ask me...
Also, the 360's basic style is "look how awesome our graphics are...Did you see how cool things look with our massive CPU's?"...This just isn't what RTS's are about...It's also why everyone here seems to think old RTS's are way better than new ones...New ones have encorporated crazy 3D graphics...And lets face it, RTS's are about commanding your troops, anything that doesn't enhance that ability is just a waste, and tends to make things worse (like losing men behind giant 3D buildings)...HaloWars will be no different...They'll want to show off their graphics, and lose site of what makes an RTS an RTS...
All that being said, this video shows us nothing...It's a video where humans fight covenant, using human and covenant technology...It could just as easily be for a new FPS, or 3PS, or Halo 3 for that matter...
