Autodesk 3ds Max 8 Question

Post by Driverx »

Ok well after watching the first 6 video's of the HEK beginners tutorial I was finally ready to export the map file I hade created. The next step was to export it as an .jms file. As I scroll down the list of files I could export it, I was unable to find the .jms file export. What the guy was using for the tutorial was 3ds max 5.

Is there a difference between 3ds max 5 and 3ds max 8?

Whats another file I could save it under instead of .jms to continue in the tutorial?

I would really appreciate a reply as soon as possible

Thanks

You're going to have to install the plugin... it's pretty much the same process as installing it for Max 5. The plugin should have came with the HEK download.

Place the .dll's you found in the zip in system 32 in WINDOWS (located in your main drive)

And put the blitzkrieg plug-in in the plugins folder, which is probably either located in your main drive (default C) or in program files\autodesk\3dsmax8\plugins.

If you can't replace the .dll's there is a nifty program called unlocker that deletes stuff that is stubborn. Simply go to download.com and search for unlocker.

If you do have that problem (it says it can't be deleted), then unlocker will automatically show up (if unlocker is turned on) and all you need to do is go down on the drop down menu, select delete, and press unlock all. By the way, if your computer crashes, restart, and then copy the .dll you were about to place in the deleted ones place.

I once had to do this myself.

Hope that helps :)

Well you don't put the dlls in the plugins folder, you put the plugin in the plugin folder.

Likewise. I have exactly the same problem with 3DS Max 7. When I run it, it just says: "dle "C:\progam files\...." could not initialise" or something like that.

EDIT: SOLVED. I saw in one of the stickies, this same question. Apparently you must go to cortana.org and download the 3DSMax 6 plugin. It should work.

Did you restart your computer like the readme.txt told you to?
