I'm aware of that Kirk and it wasn't so much a threat as a simple statement.

If you compare the amount of crap on the files forum to the amount of crap here though, you'll see that there's significantly less. =/

Yeah I know, but personally, I tend to ignore it after awhile. I barely notice it... unless it breaks rules or something :/

No, the general population of halomods does not care about one individual user, in most cases. If he wants to go, he can go. It's not going to affect anything... People said the same thing when we changed themes... they said they hated it, if we kept it they'd quit... they did, but only for a week. They came back, realizing how

I just can't see it working at all. Slamming a large group of people into a few people like that only ends in eventual mass exodus, like what happened last time we got a whole load of members joining. And there's still the issue of confusion, dupe accounts, transferring everything across safely, and personal preferences. I like this place the way it is now, it's quiet enough that I don't go away for a minute to get a drink and suddenly there are 10 more posts in every topic on the first page...

In any case with that many members all on one forum, you would need a LOT more staff, it'd be a LOT harder to run even with additional staff, and there'd be all sorts of problems ranging from that listed above to the more mature users on this forum getting pissed off at the immature idiots posting crap all over the files forum.

Well, it really won't be slamming the forums with thousands of new users...All the users already exist...So there won't be an influx of idiots like there was at the Halo 2 release...Really, your arguement is that all FF members suck, and that there is some magical shield protecting UF members from them...Well, there is...They don't really care about conversation...FF members might infect you with the imaginary disease you think they have for a week, but after that, they'll go away...They have no interest in posting in the forums on the UF, and they still won't if we merge...It's not like we're going to cram the discussion forum into the files forum...They'll still be two separate forums, on one board...

There is more than enough staff to handle both sides of the equation now...There will actually be less to manage should there be a merge, not more...The only way staff would be an issue is if there only problems with the merge are as immature as yours, and they decide to leave over it...

@ Kirk: Merging two large forums is considerably different to changing the theme...

@ IF: It's more a matter of the rate at which they post over there, and the apparent lack of decent quality works (well, most of what I've seen lately anyway)... as I'm getting a lot less time it'd just be too much so there'd be no point staying.

Merge the forums, there should be no arguement about it. It would increase the amount of user interaction, since you dont have to go on 2 boards.

Back everything up before you try and do it though...

That's the same thing. A concept is a general idea. The idea is simply changing the forums. If you don't like the change, then leave.

Its not a matter of liking, its a matter of necessity.

Face it, these forums are dying, they need to be combined.

I don't see why we should switch from phpBB. It's my favorite forum software. I personally dislike IPB and vBulletin.
