i agree, they're terrible for people like us. but for a school use where there aren't any power users, and all it really needs to do is run powerpoint, word, and ie, they're a dream. price cut for mass order, and the money you would save by mass-ordering components and having the tech guys assemble it is nowhere near the time mass-ordering dells saves.

for a school; buying 300 dells + about 50 printers is better than buying 300 PSUs, motherboards, cases, processors, 256MB RAM sticks, keyboards, mouses, NICs, monitors, cd drives, floppy drives, and hard drives and having the tech guys assemble it all, move them around, and install XP. ALOT better.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

Heh, my old private school had one, it was pretty stupid though because the computer lab lady just used it as a projector screen and hardly ever touched it because her projector was on a stand that rolled, kinda funny. I think they're cool but also a huge waste of money. I wish I had a 3d printer, then I'd make rocks to throw at people. That would be fun.
