An arguement about Dual Wielding
K, I would like to have an intelligent arguement about the whole nature of dual weilding.
To me, it seemed that including dual weilding in Halo 2 was a nifty feature at first, but ended up failing. This is mainly because Bungie implemented it in the wrong fashion.
Want proof? They had to release an autoupdate to make grenades and melees stronger and dual weilding weapons weaker.
The main consequence of dual weilding is that the weapons that can be dual weilded are just not powerful enough. Most people will take a Beam Rifle, BR, or shotty over an SMG, Plasma Rifle, or Needler. IMO when dual weilding the damage of the weapons should not be decreased. Weapons dont magically become weaker when you have two of them.
What does happen, however, is that accuracy is almost completely lost when you are firing two weapons at the same time in each hand. Go and try it out and u'll see
So the damage should remain the same, but accuracy should be cut down.
To make dual weildable weapons a viable option in combat by themselves Bungie should make it so that a player with an SMG can move/turn faster than a person with a Rocket Launcher.
Discuss.

Yea accuracy should go wayy down when you hold two weapons, that was the problem with dual pistols, they were way to accurate. Also I think melees are way to strong too. Its pretty stupid when I guy with a BR can kill a guy with a shot gun faster than the guy with a shot gun can kill him.

Pistols were WAAAAY too accurate in my opinion. In, zombie matches all I had to do was dual wield pistols and I was untouchable. Headshots every time I shot.a mammoth wrote:Yea accuracy should go wayy down when you hold two weapons, that was the problem with dual pistols, they were way to accurate. Don't blame me. I have never hosted a game of zombies in my life.
It kinda was pathetic. I see them from 50 ft away, shoot, they are dead.
I also hated that room strategy *shivers*.
Pistols where way too powerful.
I also thought that the needlers where underpowered. The needles of the needler are suppose to be little bombs aren't they? They explode on contact (or once they penetrate the skin)? Then why does one need to waste a whole clip to kill somebody with dual wield?

Pistols are accurate but they don't do enough damage. The pistol shoots AP/HE rounds I believe, so it should be able to kill faster than 13 headshots.
To compensate for a damage increase the pistol should lose accuracy. Pistols are not as accurate as they are portrayed in Halo 2.
As for the Needler, I was under the impression that Bungie would try and make it useful in Halo 2. Apparantly I was misinformed.

If anything else the Needler is as or less useful then the plasma pistol.Phosphorous wrote:Pistols are accurate but they don't do enough damage. The pistol shoots AP/HE rounds I believe, so it should be able to kill faster than 13 headshots.

Needlers can kill someone if you get the right angle on them and are in a more or less linear path with them, meaning having no one strafe or move side ways, rendering them excellent in some situations, or for taking out a turret or unsuspecting sniper. I do think they could be a little bit faster and a wee bit more homing though.

I remember how in H1 you could actually kill someone with a PP or a Needler, they were actually decent choices of weapons depending on the situation. And in H3 they should make it so you have to watch the whole animation every time you switch weapons like they had in H1 to eliminate Combo type combos...

about the movement issue, if you are carrying an RL or frg, you speed should be fairly slow, smg-moderate, BR--kinda on the slow side, rifles moderate, pistol faster, get the idea? and mb the active reticles like in cod? more accurate if you stand still or are crouching and maybe even prone (!) and less accurate if you're runnin' and gunnin'
Spartans wear MJOLNIR armor, which enhances their physical abilities. There shouldn't be a speed decrease.fishface617 wrote:about the movement issue, if you are carrying an RL or frg, you speed should be fairly slow, smg-moderate, BR--kinda on the slow side, rifles moderate, pistol faster, get the idea?
About those suits however, they can flip a tank without touching it, but they can't hold down the recoil of an SMG.
Edit: Typo v_v

Considering that a Spartan is a super soldier, capable of flipping a 20 ton tank, I don't think that's gonna happen. (Even though for some reason he can't hold down the recoil of an SMG)fishface617 wrote:about the movement issue, if you are carrying an RL or frg, you speed should be fairly slow, smg-moderate, BR--kinda on the slow side, rifles moderate, pistol faster, get the idea?
That I could see, but Spartans also have very good aim, so I'm not so sure that would happen.fishface617 wrote:and mb the active reticles like in cod? more accurate if you stand still or are crouching and maybe even prone (!) and less accurate if you're runnin' and gunnin'
EDIT: DAMN IT, TURAL! >_< I wanted to say the SMG thing. =(
