Well there most certainly aren't any bumps on that picture with him holding the sword... Then if you look at some of the other pictures you can see the bumps aren't really there.

*sigh* Mac fanboys. :?

There's nothing wrong with Vista besides it's whole...unable to run a lot of XP apps dealie. It's not over priced or lousy at all. Not saying Leopard won't be great (I'm sure it will), but that's no reason to call Vista lousy.

Anyways...no bump maps you say oddball?
I'm actually running an XP rig right now. I just prefer OS X due to it's sharper and more user friendly UI and it's stronger security and reliability. Kinda like Linux, bet pretty.

Vista is just XP with rediculous requirements, a few new pointless features and a still crappy theme. It left me completely underwhelmed. Like z0mg, transparency!

There's definetly bumps there - check out the detail on the side of the Needler - that's gottabe a bump http://www.bungie.net/images/games/halo ... ship02.jpg

i was going to post this the other day but I felt that people should be smart enough to look on bungie's front page :D. I love the new tools for the game that are planned. Hopefully they are a bit more well put together for h2v. Don't get me wrong hpc was cool and all but they weren't what I would call Fun to deal with. 8)

I do not mod halo, so please do not send me Instant Messages asking how.
Also, do not send me pm's regarding modding halo.

I doubt the new tools will be as good as Grenadiac and other modding software programmers. Bungie's not going to spend a whole lot of time making programs that will allow us to change their game.

Anyways, there is still a lot of time before release, they still have much time to fix these issues.

Looks cool. The queers at at a certain game video site were ragging on a dude in a video for using 360 controller with pc. I love keyboards but I personally bought my 360 corded controller for halo 2 pc. I mean yea. Keyboard/mouse is great for most games but, halo 2. I gotta have my controller :D

Edit:
http://www.halo2pc.org/ wrote:Bungie has more HALO 2 Vista news. This time it is about mapmaking and the company, Pi Studios, that is making the tools to help make the content. Thanks Agamemnon for the tip. ;)

Interesting to note that Pi Studios is a Texas-based company and used to be located in Plano, Texas - home of Gearbox Software the company responsible for the Halo PC port.

Oh, wow. Doing some research we see that Pi Studios has some former Gearbox employees, including David Mertz who was the lead designer for Halo PC. Mertz designed the popular Halo PC map, Timberland, and actually but his stamp on it.

Back to the news from Bungie and the interview with Pi Studios. Summary:

* Looks like they are still using some version of the Halo PC map editing tools like Guerilla, Sapien, and Tool. This should give a leg up to the modding/mapping community.
* "The end-user will be provided with everything needed to create custom multiplayer maps, complete with new textures and even customizable shaders from Halo 2." - Mertz
* "The plan from the beginning has been to release the tools, tutorials and examples with the retail release of the game" - Mertz
* "With Halo 2 Vista, the tools are available right out of the box. This means that they are both officially supported by Microsoft and will have gone through all the testing, localization, and usability scenarios that is required for a professional software release." - Mertz
* "Not only will the tools be dramatically more user-friendly, they'll also be much more stable and polished." - Mertz
* "We really look forward to seeing what new content will be created, not just for the casual player, but for the competitive and tournament Halo 2 Vista communities." - Mertz

Sweet news for the FPS PC gamer fan looking forward to HALO 2. I'm predicting that we'll see a H2Vista screenshot by the end of the week, possibly in the Bungie Weekly Update.

-DeToX- wrote:Good thing if they make map editting tools, we may be able to convert maps, AKA brand new BSP's in H2 Xbox :D
That's exactly what i've been thinking since I heard of the tools coming out for H2V. Oh man I can't wait to see what kind of stuff comes out of that. Makes me want to get a full version of vista when it comes out, just to see what can be done at that point.

(off topic) I saw at my college library a windows xp professional disc for $300 dollars, give or take a few. How much do you possibly think Vista is going to cost?

ok first things first
1: its a BETA ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_stage#Beta )
2: there are currently no bumps on the BIPEDS ( a 2 leged creature )
3: Vista is not crap, im running the Beta#2 and its great
4: Vista's price is not know yet as it is still in the beta stages
5: Windows xp, is 100-200$(USD) if you know where to look
6: Halo 2 for pc, will be converted by modders or bungie to work with other OS platforms, ie linux
7: Due to the fact that they have to make the game compatible with thousands of differend hardware configurations, they will not be able to make the graphics like most of you want, unless you mod the game
8: Also Due to bungies reluctance to try to continue the halo game series, there will be more advanced tools for modding as new content is developed
9: Remember they are also working on Halo 3 at the same time( unless it is a diff devision)
10: CALM DOWN, bungie knows what they are doing, and stive for the best possible
11: get the Xbox 360 due to halo 3
12: Halo 2 vista was not made big news for 2 reasons, first: its a beta and they have hardly worked on it compared to other projects, Second: The operating system that is is supposed to run on is also in the beta stages
13: Do not worry if bungie dose not release moding tools with HV, for there are people out there that will have some witin a month or two
14: Have patience and just calm down, dont rush them like other companies do
15: sit back and relax, its bungie

If Bungie does as good a job improving the graphics as they did stopping Xbox Live cheating, we should have Halo 2 Vista shipping with stick figure models!
