No ingame text on halo

Ok, I finally got halo(CE) installed on my new(new to me, that is. It's used) Laptop. Believe it or not, it runs pretty smooth, considering the 16MB video RAM. However, there is one problem. I don't see any thing anyone is saying while in game. No ingame chat whatsoever.

Any idea how I might go about fixing this?

(the graphics card is integrated, so upgrading isn't an option)

Ya, I know. Double Post. This problem is really annoying. I'm like on this one server, and I'm doing pretty good. I'm not saying anything, cause I can't even see what I type(or what anybody else types). And then I get kicked, and then rejoin, and get banned.

I want my in game text!!!!

I mean seriously. The game runs perfectly smoothly at 640x480(no shadows or specular). Amazingly smooth, for a 16 MB card. But why the text? I mean seriously.

Could it be something totally unrelated to my graphics card? What font does ingame chat use?

I kind of have the same problem, but I can see the text but only in flashes, it will show for maybe 2 seconds then flash away for a second and then come back.

you tried disabling safemode? chat doesn't appear in safemode

Also, if your MC's are gray and your laptop has an intel extreme (lol) graphics accelerator like mine, download the latest driver. This time, the driver update actually does something useful for Halo(CE).

Lol. I found that like literally minutes before you posted that this morning! I just got home and was just opening this thread to post about it.

I see text now!

Now I can know when people are switching teams just to betray me cause I pwn so much on coldsnipe.
