Very Strange Problem... STILL UNRESOLVED :(

Hey all, now this problem is getting in the way of my mod's progress, so help would be greatly apreciated.

Basically, my Terminal Freezes whenever I make a duplicated warthog spawn on the map. Whether it be by replacing the ghost with it or firing out of a weapon. If I set the ghost to be one of my duplicated hogs, the countdown finishes and it goes black, and freezes. If however, I set it to spawn from a gun, the game loads, but freezes when I fire the gun.

To cut a long story short, my terminal wont spawn duplicated hog's without crashing, however... MrBalll is using the exact same map as me, and he has no problems, Tural has also tried, and he is successful with loading it... so why can't I?

Oh, and I've also tried editing it in the TDATA folder using CMR, with no success... still freezes.

Hmm you resigned with CMR and it still doesn't work? Weird.. Maybe its a trainer you got on or something? :?

I don't have any trainers activated and it still doesn't work...

I'm gonna go delete Halo2 off my HDD and start all over again... if that doesn't work well I'm sure my problem can't be solved :(

What tag are you spawning the hog from? I would hope the vehi tag and If so I'm not sure what's wrong... Sometimes if you spawn something from the wrong tag the game freezes.. make sure you duplicated all the things in the hog the [html] etc.

It's nothing do do with the way I'm spawning it, because I did it on Burial Mounds with success, its just my terminal, works fine on everyone elses.

I just deleted H2 from my HDD, still freezes. Man this is frustrating.

clean out your cache drives. maybe that'll help. its pretty weird others CAN run the map... maybe try the patch you've send them. :? :shock:

Just tried both of them, no luck. If I edit the map so one of the dup'd hogs doesnt spawn, it works... but when I set one of the dup'd hogs to spawn it freezes it. This is so strange, I honestly am confused.

I can't see how my xbox being PAL would affect anything, because that would mean I couldn't use the mods on this site, and I can. Only Halo 1 had differences in NTSC and PAL, Halo 2 is the same because it is a Live game, so it needs to be the same in all regions.

Wait.... Did you send them your map or did you guys just make seperate ones? Cause it could be the version of Entity your using.

It's not that, basically right. If I went now, got a clean Burial Mounds, and got a clean Terminal, I could duplicate the 'hog in the vehi tag, set it to spawn instead of the ghost using the dependency swap in the vehc tag, FTP to my xbox, load burial mounds, a hog would spawn instead of the ghost, if I then went and opened terminal, which i did the exact same thing with, it would freeze. Yet if someone else, say Tural for example (as he did do this earlier) did the exact same thing, his terminal would load, and a nice hog would be waiting instead of the ghost.

I'm going to cry...

You cannt duplicate the Warthog recursivley in the VEHI tag. I dont wanna sound like I dont apreciate your help 'cos I sincerely do, just why would it being duplicated recursivly make a difference, if it loads in one map, just not the other?

This is making me so mad, ive been working on a mod for over a week now, and it can't progress if I can't load it Sad

EDIT: I just got clean copies of:
Burial Mounds
Headlong
Turf
Terminal
I duplicated the hog in each one, and, in each one, set the duplicated hog to spawn instead of the ghost or a weapon.
Burial Mounds, warthog spawns
Headlong, Warthog Spawns
Turf, Warhit Spawns
Terminal, Game Freezes.
WTF?

EDIT AGAIN, could someone, please, please do a bsp conversion for me, so say Terminal in Gemini, i'd be so unbeleivably greatful.

I know this is a bit of a bump, but I didn't wanna make a new topic and waste space.

Through a bit more research, I have come to the conclusion it's Terminals BSP that won't allow duplicated hogs to spawn... so if anyone could help me fix this... I would do anything. :wink:

Also, when duplicating the warthog's glass shader, it causes an Ident to break? Any idea's how I can stop this? (DeTox, your method stopped the Ident from breaking, but gives a black screen when trying to load the map)


Please, I've been working on this mod for a month now, and I just don't wanna quit, and don't really wanna resort to using a map other then Terminal. You'll understand why when/if the mod gets released.
