My old IBM laptop, with the same specs (alright, 8mb of shared video RAM) could run 3ds Max 6 and Photoshop 7 at decent speeds.
I have 256 mb of video ram from a GeForce 5700 FX (100 bucks)
I have 256 mb of SDRAM .. they dont even make SDRAM anymore, but 256 none the less, and if I load a texture model of over 10,000 pollies it runs at like 3 frames per year...

bastard, lol. nice specs.darkstorm995 wrote:I have a amd x2 3800 with Geforce 7800 gt and 2 gigs of ram everything seems to run fine
my pc with an x800 GPU (128 MB ram), 768 MB of system memory (DDR) and an AMD 64 3200+ run max pretty well. back when i had only 512 MB of ram, max would slow down some when i started working with upwards of 100,000 polies.

You can configure it to use Direct 3D or OpenGL.Darco wrote:everything in max runs off the processor.galvination wrote:thats a Lie.. no way will 3Ds max run without a 3d card, and if it does it probably runs mad slow.128 mb ram, no 3d card
More like $275.galvination wrote:isn't that like 300 dollars? Jesus christ.Geforce 7800 gt
I just built my friend a computer with two Geforce 6800 XT's in SLi, I can only think of two words to describe it... greased lightning.

the new 7950 is all the power of SLI in one PCIe slot, so you don't need to have an nvidia motherboard. yeah, it also steals the term "greased lightning" from your 6800s.
how? i could use the performance boost of using my GPU and the extra cycles for other stuff on my CPU.The_Hushed_Casket wrote:You can configure it to use Direct 3D or OpenGL.

Just to clarify.[cc]z@nd! wrote:how? i could use the performance boost of using my GPU and the extra cycles for other stuff on my CPU.The_Hushed_Casket wrote:You can configure it to use Direct 3D or OpenGL.
