Something I noticed today, if you watch the cutscene at the start of Cairo Station where MC, Johnson, and Keyes get their awards, Lord Hood specifically says to Miranda that "the Navy has lost one of it's best."Xiion wrote:are you stupid? have you ever played the game? Sgt. Johnson clearly says, at the beginning of the level T.a.R in Halo 1, "Move out marines! Corps aint payin us by the hour."
HAve yo uever read the books? he was sent to a military training camp. if anyone doesnt know their facts, its you. read up and do your research before you start putting out false information.
UNSC = the Navy.
that doesnt matter, thats jsut one refrence. i used alot more than just one. remember: strength in NUMBERSV0Lt4Ge wrote:Something I noticed today, if you watch the cutscene at the start of Cairo Station where MC, Johnson, and Keyes get their awards, Lord Hood specifically says to Miranda that "the Navy has lost one of it's best."Xiion wrote:are you stupid? have you ever played the game? The Navy, as in a fleet of ships. SHIPS. Captain Keyes, a captain of a ship. The marines (yes, marines... The Marine Corps) aren't neccissarily part of the Navy, they always could be tagging along and going to a destination. For example, how does a US Marine go from the US to Iraq? Either with the Air Force, or the US Navy.

Just to clear things up:

According to that, they're both. Juniorman is right.

I really love watching elites fighting alongside humans. Oh and mc isn't in the marines or the navy. he's in the unsc(duh). and I don't think anyone should make fun of soldiers. they are a respectable people that fight to protect their country.Thus far, the war has lasted twenty-seven years. Following the outbreak of a civil war within the Covenant, the UNSC is likely to ally with Covenant Separatists, which include, but are not limited to, the Elites.

The Elites cannot be stopped.
WOW im amazed that a pic of a bunch pf spartains stacked in a triangle.... could creat suck an indepth arguement.... LMFAO... this is so funny 2 me... and MC is an the Marines it says so in one of the cutscenes from halo 2... outskirts 1 i think...

Who knows if they still do that in the times in the game? You get my point.Lavix wrote:Actually the marines train there own air pilots. The US Marine Corps has had air pilots since WWI and still use them today in Iraq.Kirk wrote:how does a US Marine go from the US to Iraq? Either with the Air Force, or the US Navy.

The marines were originally created as a branch of the navy to use against enemies that got onboard a ship. Some could stay down on deck with swords, and others could stay up in the crows nest with rifles to pick off enemies. The marines may be a bit more individualized from the navy today, but I believe masterchief is in the Navy, despite all the riff raff earlier in this thread. ("Master Chief" is a rank in the navy). Otherwise, I geuss what is stated above could be true, that the marines and navy have sort of merged back to how they used to operate...except in 2552 instead of the late 1800's.
