Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

partially agreed.
it is a decent model, there is are loads of things to improve, but it looks like a gun, and that is what we all want, don't we?

now a skin can make it a lot better, bu i suggest adding the details in 3d, otherwise they look kind of flat.

also, if you model pieces (like the slide, grip etc.) chamfer them a bit, so it won't have "sharp edges"

Striker I appreciate you watching for people flaming, but Snaf isnt flaming, hes just giving me constructive critisism.
Oh and Snaf, none of those videos work for me, when I open them with WinRAR it says theres something wrong with the file, Ill try again though cause I really want to watch them.

And I am still putting in some details, heres an updated version.

of course you can be as good as me, and better. i don't see a reason why you can't.

oh, and cooldude, get on aim man.

multi, looks like the model is coming along a little better. but, throw a skylight and an omni at .5 intensity and turn on cast shadows for the skylight. hit f10 and go to advanced, and choose light tracer, then render. we'll be able to see it much better. not only that, use as much space in the render as you can.

the gun's coming along good so far, but it still has a ways to go. from what i see now, the grip and trigger area needs to be smoothed out.

I'll post another update pretty soon, Im getting in all the little details at the moment. But to answer some of your questions this is how I modeled it:

I stared out with a single box, then I just extruded it a bunch of times and moved the verticie dot things to make the basic shape of the weapon. Then, I went in and modeled it a little to make it look better. After doing that I went in and gave it some smoothing groups. Then I went in and beveled it to give it a rounder shape on the edges. Gave it more detail once again, added things like the barrel and the little shotgun thingy. Now I'm going in and modeling in the little details.

And what the gun does:

It shoots regular bullets like any other assault rifle, then you can also shoot it as a shotgun, thats why It has two triggers and a little shotgun thing at the bottom.

THAR! Lawl.

i see... that's how SMASH did his tutorial, and it ended up looking nothing like the actual shotgun he was supposedly modeling. overall, if you're trying to model a weapon accurately, that is absolutely NOT the way to do it. i wish i still had those tutorials d/l'ed... i would send them to you. anyways, you follow SMASH's tutorial like that and you won't get an accurate model in the least, which is exactly what's happening now.

you see, there's many different dimensions on that gun, and using a box to get the shap will not accomplish this.

detail is good, but, the model is just wrong.

here's a few pics of the morita rifle

take a good look at the details in the last few, and look at yours. graphically as a silouhette, yes it looks like the gun, but, looking at it in 3d, it does not resemble the morita.

your mistake was to model the gun with only the side perspective. Its mistake everyone makes when they first start to model. Look at diff angles and get a feel for how the gun is shaped, and alwasy model with 3 or 4 diff angles of the gun on the side.

Yeah, I'm trying to make it so the gun isnt really flat, I should have done that before putting in details :|

Well I found a little comfort in my model, I played the game and its better than the one in the game, all they did was make an outline and put a skin on it lawl.

It's good for a first, I suppose, but it's....extremely boxy.

Update:

This is the other side of the rifle, I added the little thing that holds the chamber where the shells come out, then I fixed the barrel.

HA!! we posted at the same time! the update looks better. your models will only get better with time. all i can say now is that this one won't be the best it can, but it's a learning experience to say the least.

You might be wanting to detach the moving parts, especially the magazine. Also, the mag shouldn't be as wide as the receiver is. Barrel and overall shape need some fixing, but it's looking MUCH better than in your first pic.

What's the polycount?

Oh, and Snaf, I'm honoured. :D
