Extracting Models In Halo PC

Post by R4PM0NK3Y »

I am attempting something tough, or so I think it is. I'm sure most of you have heard of the game Far Cry. Well, I was thinking how fun it would be to sort of re-make Halo on the CryENGINE (multiplayer). I read the following tutorial: http://www.halomods.com/tutorials/Skinn ... c3dsuv.php

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he not just extract the Master Cheif model from the map into 3DSMax? I want to do this with everything, maps, characters, vehicles, weapons, everything. However, in HMT v3, I do not have the "Export Model" button or anything like that...The tutorial says extract the model from an XBOX MAP ONLY, however it does not say why. Can I get the models from the PC map files? Or do I need the Xbox files? I thought they were the same... So a recap; Bottom line is I need to get Halo models into 3DS Max. Once they are in there, I got it made seeing as I do not need them to go back into Halo. :) Any help is greatly appreciated. :D

Post by Jatred »

Boy for someone that has that many post...I would think you knew this.

Yes, Ive made a nuke mod, changed the rocket projetile "modle" to be all fat like a big bertha nuke....also, I made the needler's needle look sharper than it allready is.

I can make a .ppf if you like for the rocket or needler, or what ever.

Your right about that,

All that the guns like the pistol have are flash effects when fired, that why you can't see the bullets. Even the flam out of the flame thrower is just an effect with a preset damage and collsion setting.

Smart software enginers.......... :D

no, I meant that there in fact *is* no bullet. it's just that:

1. the flash covers it

2. it would go way too fast to see it anyway

Could someone give a short tutorial on how to apply a skin to a model in 3DS Max? It is in a DDS file format, and it reads it ok, but when I select it in the Material Editor the "Apply To Selection" button dims. Or just how to convert a DDS file to another image type. Thanks. :(
