Email to Bungie
Email to Bungie
Hey all, I sent an email to bungie. I'm sure I won't get a reply, but hey, what the hell I sent it anyways. Here is what I said:
[quote="I"]Hello,
I have a few questions for you guys at Bungie. Let me tell you in advance, these questions are about modding,
so delete it now if you don

You have good intentions, but you didn't write your email very well. You should have asked them their stance on offline modding and the halo 2 modding community: not about modding custom games online. Their autoupdate detects any modified content, whether you are going to play customs or matchmaking.

bungie will never listen to these emails or these videos that we are sending. It seems you guys dont understand that BUNGIE DOESNT CARE about how we mod. what they care about is that we are modding in general. There is no game company that will condone modding of its game. For example, take your halo 2 instruction book and turn to page 33. at about the middle of the page it will say something like this...
this statement is why they are banning modders of any kind. When we mod, we reverse engineer this game. Call it what you want (modding, improvements, enhancements etc) its still not allowed and all the emails and videos in the world will NEVER change their minds so stop trying and save your energy.
reverse engineeringunathorized copying, reverse engineering, transmission, public proformance, rental, pay for play, or circumvention of copy protection is strictly prohibited.

That's where the email's intellegence dropped off, severely.DarkMetal wrote:Another question is why do these modders
get banned for modding only in custom games?
Re: Email to Bungie
completely agree, for a second i thought this would be an intelligent email with well thought out points of views, but no, just another kid not reading his xbl user agreement. rules are rules, thats why we have xbc and x link kai so we can play how and what we want. that email was a waste of time, sorry.Tural wrote:That's where the email's intellegence dropped off, severely.DarkMetal wrote:Another question is why do these modders

Their rules will never change. so lets recap
emails, videos, messages, phone calls (if you seriously have the nerve) are a waste of breath and energy. they dont listen. These things go unanswered.
if you still cannot comprehend why they ban you from XBL for mods ill say it one more time...
unathorized copying, reverse engineering, transmission, public proformance, rental, pay for play, or circumvention of copy protection is strictly prohibited.
and another excellent point by one of the communities members
Playing any kind of modded content on XBL is againt it's terms of service...
So please stop wasting precious forum space on these POINTLESS topics.
your right they are within their rights. They are also within their rights to screw up the xbox. just lookit this websitePlaying any kind of modded content on XBL is againt the it's terms or service, so.. Getting banned from Halo 2 matchmaking is a slap on the wrist, considering they'd be well within their rights to keep your money and cancel your Live subscription.

true he took the time to write the email but it was poorly thought out. You shouldn't have asked something like why are modders, who make custom maps and scenarios for the enjoyment of others, punished the same way as modders who use the ability to alter the game for negative purposes? Saying something like this would have made it sound a bit more professional. However it still wouldnt alter the fact it was a waste of time. I will show you how far they got into reading this email before it was deleted...DarkMetal you had good intentions and its good to see you are standing up for the community but they will never let us on live
