My map:Around the corner

Post by aa1usa »

Ok i have a few questions to make my life easyer.

My map is a maze this is the maze i made it from
Image
This is the 3-D model

Ok now I still need to connect the walls to the skybox.

I was wondering if there is a way to link the walls to the skybox other than deleting all the faces around it and creating faces linking it to the box. I know this is a good way but is there a faster one?

My next question is how to add lights? like a light on the wall. Because im going to add a top and i want lights in there.

Well if you can help me please do.

If you make the walls somewhat above the skybox, they don't need to be on it.
make your sky box as one object (an inverted cube) and apply the +sky shader to it
Then apply the shader for your walls to them and place the walls ~.1 units above the "ground" face of the sky box. Then apply the ground shader to that face.
Link both to frame and viola, your map is ready to be exported.

I know how to do this. You make the skybox, but make length and width segments of 50. then, you convert to editable mesh and flip the faces. Hide all the sides except for the bottom one, and then convert the bottom to editable mesh. Now, you hit the displace tool. Where it says non, click it and load your picture (in this case, the maze). Now give the strength whatever yuou want. I did it and used -20.

I got this when i tried. theres a video for this somewhere on the forums. i think its called mapping with gmax, i'll put the link up if i find it.

P.S. Your maze is actually simple to get through.

Its on the modifier list. What it does is takes a black and white image, and makes that shape on th selected face. It only works with certain picture types like jpeg.
