Halo Screencap Package
/me dances in triangles... then realizes that's not normal and starts dancing in circles-
I like the idea of this. So a stat grabber would be in the form of a trainer I'd guess watching and recording stat-worthy things into a file? (*Idea- if you get really into that and want to make sure people don't use modded campaign maps, make it check the signature of the map against a list of known signatures*)
And when it says latest version of Halo2, that blog/site/w-e means 1.1a, the one on the map pack disk right?

Yes there are ways to verify a maps content as well as check for an array of other things that microsoft seems incapable of doing (you'll see more on this in a different project I am working on)...the trainer and stat files produced will be encrypted to prevent them from being tampered with.
As for the latest version comment...I have made no plans to start converting and won't be doing so until I finalize one for the original executable.

I can't wait for Project Yellow. It sounds great. However, I do think doing an anti-cheating thing is a waste of time. Why? Because if people want to cheat, they'll just enable their rapid fire and high jump trainer. Heck, if they wanted to, they could make a cheating mod in less than 5 minutes. It is your choice though. If you truly think this will be a big cheating factor, then you should go ahead and implement some anti cheating solutions.

Yah, this is a site of halo hackers/other reverse engineering people, but not everyone will be able to mess with it anyway, so it would probably stop most people from being able to do stuff anyway.x088x wrote:I can't wait for Project Yellow. This site is full of those who use the tools made only by a selective few (the real 'hackers'/reverse engineers)...none of which would ever cheat in a matchmaking game online. Like I said, there are ways to check for trainers or modded maps and they can be forced client-side. I won't say it's impossible to reverse engineer the actual trainer, but there will be plenty of brick walls placed throughout and anyone that knows assembly also knows it can be easily made hard to read by random jumps or polymorphic code.OwnZ joO wrote:Yah, this is a site of halo hackers/other reverse engineering people, but not everyone will be able to mess with it anyway, so it would probably stop most people from being able to do stuff anyway.x088x wrote:I can't wait for Project Yellow.
