sbsp viewer help

Post by 0mfc0 »

Ok if you have been to project recruitment here latly then you know i am the project leader of UniHalo. In our project my team has had a good start and we almost have plugin system done. but we are also going to make a sbsp viewer. I know this is a very advanced feature but if anyone could help us that would be great......

Also we are still looking for people to join.

Edit: the project is in VB 2005 EE

The BSP viewer is I can tell you without a doubt the hardest part of your project and shouldn't be added now like an Add-On.Its pretty useless anyway now that Promopheus is coming out which has a very advanced bsp viewer.

yes you are right, but we are getting decently far..... but it will be awile before alpha comes out.

Prothemus is going to have the best bsp viewer so far but a bsp viewer would be a good handy add-on.

SBSP Viewer

Post by chiefdestroyer »

creating a simple bsp viewer is not too difficult but will depend on how much you know about 3d modeling and your 3d framework (directx for most) and halo 2 raw data (it's mesh format) if you are using vb i do not have a clue how to go about it but in c# or java i would build my own data structure from the sbsp data that would contain all the data to render the bsp (textures and mesh) then i would render it using to references to the data structers with java this is automaticly done but c# not done you do this to save memory cause most bsp viewers are very memory hungry but the xbox seems to render it using only 64Mb so try and keep it not too memory hungry and a good source for a bsp viewer is dark matter source that is where i learnt how to do it and i had a few long convos to poke and if you want to save some memory try and let directx handle the dxt images instead of converting to bitmaps then rending if you want a bit of help with halo 2 bsp raw format i can try and help directx i would not know too much i do have some source i could give you but only really handy if you know java or C# my AIM is chiefdestroyer

?????? I think you are asking in the wrong place, no one knows for sure, but from what i have heard they are almost done with alpha. Halodev.org is the place for prothemus..... but i wouldn't advise asking when it is going to come out there
