[help] tweaking a sig... with code!

Post by [cc]z@nd! »

ok, so here's my current sig:

Image

nothing special, just grabbed the pic off of adultswim.com cropped it, and made sure it fit sig specifications (not too big, etc.). I don't think i need to actually alter the pic at all (in my opinion) although i may add the "//FUJIYAMA//" taxt below the mountain later.

at the moment, i'd really like to have the sig actually do something. i had it encased by a url tag leading to adultswim.com, but i needed something more. i tried incorporating javascript by putting a "javascript:alert("all times and music eastern")" in the url's place, but it didn't seem to work. (go ahead and put that short script into your browser's window and hit enter, you'll see what i'm tryin to do)

if someone has any ideas, regarding sig interactivity, not the actual picture, i'd like to know. maybe i'll be able to get my own site up and hosted soon, but until then, i wanna try and find a way to make this sig unique without altering the pic.

I remember Oracle_of_all had that cool cave-flashlight signature on Evasive Concept.

i don't really want an INTERACTIVE sig with games, movies, and a bread slicer. i'd just like some sort of novelty thing in there.

for example, putting the url tag inside the quote tag, i can easily make a quote of a site with a link closeby:

Code: Select all

[quote="[url=http://www.bash.org]some retard on the internet said[/url]"]quote quote quote[/quote]
creates...

some retard on the internet said wrote:quote quote quote

and you also can use the handy "aim:" link in a url tag to open an aim box with the criteria specified after the "aim:" (go to someone's profile and right-click the aim link and select properties. look at the url)

problem is, i'd like to use this handy code manipulation to make an above-average novelty sig. i thought i'd use a hint of javascript instead of a url, thinking "if it works in the address bar, maybe it'll work in here..." but it doesn't seem to.

basically, do any of you code-wise people have any ideas? would i have to use php on a server, much like in the process used to make those annoying danasoft sigs that show your IP? or is there a way i could save myself from setting up a server and just include code inside my sig?

any ideas?
