How would i successfully model?

Post by Bigern1990 »

How can i success fully model without going over the amount of indices or vertices the model can have, is there a program out there that can help, is wings 3d a good program to use?

Waht preiceisly are you trying to do? if yuo wish to change an esxisting model, simpy do not add or subtract a single vertex, edge, or face. if you are creating fully new content, you're better off using Halo CE. if you want it for Pc there is a long and painful way to get the model from CE to PC via hack-and-slash, but it's a royal pain in the ass.

there is an option box you can tick when extracting a model, it has instructions to tick or untick depending on what you wish to do with the model, read it and follow directions, then try again, failing that, dunno, you don't seem to be making any mistakes

Alright! Thanks ill try that out right now!

EDIT: wut does this thing look like that im supposed to click? Is it in hmt or in the modeling program? I use Wings 3d, not milkshape because it says i already had the trial...

EDIT2: Ok, there is no thing to press...im confused where do i press this thing, modeler, or hacking program. (modeler-wings3d Hacktool-HMTv3.5)
Everytime no matter wut i do it says there are more indices, even if i dont touch the model...help someone!

EDIT3: Ok, well there is nothing to "tick" nothing comes up or anything...i get the model from hmt, import it with Wings3d, then move around some verts (freely) then go to export, then when i try to import it to HMT i have a problem with indices...another note, out of all the people on this site no one helps out, its like there is no one here this community isnt so hot...

modelling gone wrong!

Post by Bigern1990 »

I do hit yes, then no matter wut modeling program, now im using 3ds max 8, it wont work.

In wings 3d it would mess up the indices no matter wut
In 3ds max 8 it just wont go into hmt...it say...

"An unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click continue the application wil...yadada...it failed and we have all seent his hmt error b4...it then says...unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

Yeah i just tried with the pistol instead of the ar, it still doesnt work, i tried to scale it and make it bigger but hmt doesnt like it very much and freaks out on me...help? do i need a plugin for hmt? if so point me in the right direction!

I have now tried 3ds Max 8, Wings3d, and even milkshape, all of which sucked butt...there must be something im doing wrong, but wut?

when the little dialog box come up from hmt i hit yes! wut am i doing wrong?!?!?!?!??!

ok here is the order of things i do...
1. extract pistol model 1 from HMT v3.5
2. I hit yes on the dialog box that pops up
3. I then open 3ds max 8 (trial) and import wavefront .obj
4. First try, tried to scale it (make it bigger)
5. exported as .obj
6. tried to import it into Hmtv3.5 and it would get an error...didnt work
7. Second try, got a new model from hmt v3.5 again
8. Hit yes on dialog box
9. imported as .obj into 3ds max 8(trial)
10. pulled two verts that were next to each other
11. exported as .obj
12. opened hmt v3.5 again
13. tried to import to hmt v3.5...again it got an error...didnt work

help anyone, do i need a plugin for my hmt, do i have a bad one?

hmm, you're doing everything right..... try updating ally our drivers and your .net framework, might work, might not, failing that obtain a keygen for Milkshiape and try using it. (dont ask where to get one, because that's against the rules and i won't be able to tell you, they are easy as hell to find thugh)
