The textures are all bungie's. I do not use anything custom for any ingame MC material. I happened to give Veegie a masterchief material since he lost his old one.
As far as a tutorial goes, the techniques I use in making my MC materials are, for the most part, kept very secretive and are too elaborate to explain in a tutorial. Besides, I do not, and I'm sure Veegie does not, possess the motivation or free time needed to create an in-depth tutorial. We learned what we have by experience and by experimentation. Why should we waste our hard-worked knowledge on a tutorial people that otherwise would not bother spending as much time to make a correct masterchief? If they are too lazy to spend as much time as we have, that's their fault; I'm not about to explain every little secret of mine just so they can be lazy.
When rendering in 3dsmax, the graphics card has nothing to do with what can be rendered. It's all processor / RAM based. There is no reason why he should not be able to use cubemaps in 3dsmax.Itszutak wrote:Actually, if you have an intergrated or a low-end graphics card, cubemaps don't show up...For example, my old Dell laptop.

I agree with trep. Even if they did post a tutorial, half the new people that would read it wouldn't understand it anyways.
On a side note, how long have you been rendering trep? I've been on and off about it for a few months and this is pretty much the best that ive come up with:

The rig is a WIP and it's my first one, so be gentle

I never said ANYTHING about divulging your all powerful secrets...trepdimeflou wrote: As far as a tutorial goes, the techniques I use in making my MC materials are, for the most part, kept very secretive and are too elaborate to explain in a tutorial. The Tutorial Could Just Be a Basic thing about rendering...
But I do Find it sad that you can't find time to make a simple ( or Advanced ) Tutorial on Rigging.... If you have time to rig, you more then likely have time to do other things as well...
I do understand why you would be irritated by those who wouldn't "bother spending as much time [ as you your self may have] to make a correct masterchief?
But... Why Punish those who would

"You know what I'd like to be? I mean if I had my goddamn choice, I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all."
or should I?

BFIGHTER, please use this thread for simple poses and material showcasing. This thread is for full renders with environments, a purpose, etc.
thanks,
~trepdimeflou
For further reference, I will not be making any sort of tutorial to help anyone out on their material / rigging / etc. If you want a nice masterchief, figure it out yourself. I didn't have anyone to help me.
