Blender Help?

I've been searching around for how to properly use Blender but I havent found any.

Now I cant get Gmax, or 3dsm... at the moment..
so please dont just refer me to just getting those.

if you dont know what blender even is its a free 3d modeling program.

Now, anyways back to the main point.
I have sucsefully opened a model and figured out the camera.

but i'm having a little problem editing the vetices and incidies

Its that i dont know where the part to select them is..
and how to do so, properly.
