Error when trying to start up on Full Screen

ok I've been playing Halo in a window for about um 3 weeks now, and I decided to go back to full screen, so I do that and I start to load then it quits with this message, and I never had any problems with it until now =\

Did you try running DXDIAG, like it said?

yes, it said to delete mfc42.dll, and so I did that, and the error poped up again. mb I should try reinstalling it =\
