how do im change a .ppf into a .map?

I cant get some of the maps t work because the end with .ppf and i tryed changing the name to .map but it still didn't work. Does anyone have any advise?

a .ppf is a PATCH that you APPLY to a map. Not the map itself. Use PPF-o-matic or HHHT from the downloads section.
