Welding Problem

Okay this is a pretty simple question i was doing Kurk's video tutorial and i got to the part where you make the base and when made it so its sloped in the front and selected the 6 vertices and went to weld and tried it said something like no selected vertices found or something like that. anyone have any idea why it would do that

That message means that the verts you are trying to weld are too far apart and the set space. The 'threshold' is set for 0.1 by default, so you can move that number up a bit or you can bring the verts you want to weld closer together and weld them.
