Also, after the plugin is in, you must restart photoshop so it can load the plugin. Silly.

ISANE, this process should work, at least the opening in Photoshop, with all versions of Halo. Just different apps to extract the bitmap from.
WCC17, before you do anything more, let's back up to the very beginning.
What you need to do, is download the .dds plug-in for Photoshop.
Once downloaded, you need to place the plug-in in:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only\File Formats\(Place the dds plug-in here)
(IF you have CS2. That path may be different depending on the version of Photoshop you have. I am not sure.)
Once the plug-in is in this directory, go ahead and load up Photoshop. If it was already open when you put the plug-in in that directory, you must restart Photoshop for it to be enabled.
Now you can open DotHalo and extract any bitmap you want to edit. Once extracted, you can open it in Photoshop, edit to your liking, and then internally inject it back into any map that has that bitmap.
