I guess the topic has lost some of the movement it had earlier...
Well, here's an update. The armory, or at least what will become the armory.
Next up is the bridge then the cafeteria.

Everything you'll ever need to know about me.

Well, thanks for all the support. I've been away from my computer for a while, but I've still been working on the map. I've been planning portions of it on paper (so.... old.... obsolete.... it... burns....), so if I get my PC for even an hour, expect a major update.

Everything you'll ever need to know about me.

Well, here's the best update you'll probably ever hear about the map until it's done:
1. I've decided to scrap the longswords.
2. It's going to be a vehicle.
3. It's going to be much smaller
4. I have a complete model made out of notecards of it.
5. I have the entire ship planned out on paper.
Stats:
~11 Warthogs long
4 High-Output engines
2 extra large supply + entry ramps (positioned on the bottom)
1 front mounted air-to-air missile launcher
1 front mounted MAC gun
2 front mounted rail guns
4 floors:
Top floor = Bunks
3rd floor = Bunks + cafeteria
Main Floor = bridge, weapons systems, engine room
Bottom floor = cargo storage (large entrance ramps go here.)
I'll scan the plans and take some pics of the model (it's a little rough, I only spent about an hour on it. But it does give me a good perspective on the ship before I truely model it in 3ds max)
Projected advantages of it being a vehicle:
1. I can put it in multiple maps.
2. I can have a hugeass-sized map with any of the following:
a) ground based (just like hugeass)
b) asteroids etc. (2 major space rocks that you can fly between)
c) Trepidation mb?
My progress in 3ds max has not changed since the post before this.
I understand I'm double posting, but I didn't expect replies to my last post and editing it probably won't get people to read it on a site like this (with so many people, once a topic doesn't get replies for a day, it just goes dooown, until it gets bumped or the last poster double posts)
So, expect from me soon:
Scan of blueprints
Pics of model
More stuff in 3ds max
Adios, mis amigos.

bacon i have a sick idea that i got while i was moddeling a halo pc mod on sparkedit and while sitting at my sister's 5 hour long swim meet today one is regarding an idea for the ship itself and the second is red and blue base positions.
1. The colision model may not be in your favor unless you spend a ton of time on it. The colision model needs to allow for paayloads that are "free" from the vehicle if you plan to allow it to carry cargo such as a hog or tank (which i sugest you try to do) and allow people to waly about without flying about. Like a few standing seats that are free to let the person inside move about a certain area. I don't know if it will work.
2. The ship should have airlocks that open when the pilot is not in his seat and close when he is in it.
3. The map could be like 2 floating fragments of planets floating in space and it will be like sieging a planet.
4. Can you make a realy simple map for me for my series.

The collision with other vehicles (and the ground) is not the collision model. It's the spheres in the physics. Theoretically, with a low enough ping (or in single player), a plane of spheres (fig 1) can have a warthog placed on it and then be lifted (through an animation) causing the hog to move.
fig 1:
OOOOOOO
OOOOOOO........[hog]
OOOOOOO => ooooooo
OOOOOOO
OOOOOOO
Other than that, I have the bridge modeled, but I don't have time to get a pic, and I also don't have time to scan the plans for the entire ship.
Also, the doors on the bottom of the ship open when the pilot (and copilot) are not seated. These will be the main entrance points.
Oh, and I'm gonna make an advertisement for it as soon as the exterior is modeled. (like a car add...)
On that note, the civilian version is a '53 Pegasus 'Moonhopper'.

okay.... Um.. All I said was I haven't had time to scan the blueprints...hogdeath18 wrote:bacon are you actually going to follow through or just give up because the comunity does not want another let-down
please just finish this map
Speaking of which, let me go get them now that I have time to scan them.
Finallized plans include:
Bottom floor = Storage, main entrance doors
Main floor = Bridge, weapons systems, engine room (moved to original armory location [on the plans, you'll see the armory with a big 'x' through it] due to obvious reasons [wouldn't fit after changing the engine positions)
Third floor = Cafeteria (expect simple extruded splines for tables), bunks (these will be fairly simple, ill just make a plane and give it a /"""""\ shape, mopst likely round it out a bit)
Top floor = Secondary bunks
Stats:
[weapons]
1 Forward mounted multi-projectile delivery system
-Jackhammer missiles
-Rail gun (high caliber rounds)
Seats:
[by room]
Bridge - Pilot, Copilot
Weapons systems - 1 gunner
Engine room - 2 'passengers'
Bunks (combined) - 16+ (you wouldn't use them all, but I can still have that many, it just allows more places to sit and adds realism)
Cafe - 2 or 3 maybe*
Other important stuff:
I'm uploading 2 images, one is a scan from the plans which I drew in honors biology (grey, on lined paper), the other is a quick 5 minute overview of the some of hte basic elements (color)
Bluprints
Extra info
I'm gonna go get a pic of the bridge (it's untextured and took me forever to make with this shitty mouse)

Everything you'll ever need to know about me.

did you make your own version of the moonhopper?
Can I see a bigger pic?
Mine will be rather simple, I have a new side view plus more ideas for it myself:
1. The top deck will have an airlock door (it will open when the driver gets out) that leads to the roof of the 3rd floor. It will be a simple observation post and make a good strategic position if you decide to land and fight from the ship.
2. I have ALL OBJECTS PLANNED! Computer terminals, monitors, chairs, bunks, and of course, hallways (I've had them for a while)
Other than that, I already started placing hallways around my bridge. It takes a lot of time, more time than I have in a day, for two reasons:
1. I'm not supposed to be using my PC
2. My mouse is a piece of shit (I'm using a wireless mouse on a wireless computer, and for some reason, turning of my wireless card doesn't seem to help. I can't click without moving the cursor slightly, so It's hard to switch to resize in 3ds max and also to switch to the rotate view mode [too many ways too rotate....])
On a side note to you, hogdeath18, your version of the ship looks nice, but I personally don't like the use of the engines from the halcyon. I did post a pic of 1 of the 2 main engines (wait.. no, it's a cluster of 4 of the engines, there should only be 2 in the end). Other than that, the pic is too small to see any detail.
I'm going to try to work on my detailed pieces, the rest is just inverted boxes (except hallways, but they're already done)
Until next time,
Bacon

It includes:
2 Ls mawstyle hangers
2 elevators to the top of the asteroid where one could possibly land a ship
2 warthog garages
1 superhanger for moonhopper
1 flagroom
2 sets of lifepod hatches (one in each hanger) total of 6 lifepods in a base and 12 overall
the bases are the same except on the opposite sides of a huge space map
Ignore the pic of the ship and click on the pic of the asteroid base you need to max window and enlarge
