Xbox LIVE!!!

Hey, I have softmodded xbox and I unmodded all my maps and I got bored of modding on xbc ages ago, but I don't wanna un-mod my xbox just to get on live, what do I do?
Is un-modding my xbox the only option or is it modded xboxs allowed on live just aslong as their not modding? I just don't wanna go buy xbox live and realise I get banned from it lol

Also If I just buy a 3 month trial will it work to register my first ever account on xbl? or do I need the special starter kit packages?

If you buy a 3 month or a 12 month or whatever. It all works the same way to register your Xbox Live account. I had to ask around for that too and never got an answer.
