He said Halo 2 maps. Cache00*.map's are for Halo 1.

When you add maps to the mainmenu.map, there is no reason why you should clear your cache. Go ahead and continue.
But if you feel so inclined, go on. Clearing cache is in no way 'bad' for your Xbox.

Yea there is no harm in clearing your cache.

But for some reason...don't ask me why...my xbox loads quicker when i clear my cache. :?

One time, I messed up a map, and whenever it loaded, it kicked me out of the pregame lobby and sent me to the Halo 2 menu and cleared my cashe. It was odd and took forever to load a level.

If all it is doing is kicking you out to the Pre-Game Lobby, then that would be an AU interference.
Go to E:\TDATA\4d530064\U$ and rename it to:
E:\TDATA\4d530064\U$ketchupistehrock
