Adding maps to mainmenu ...

Post by hcoch »

Alright this may be a stupid question, but after some extensive searching I haven't figured out how to do this.

Alright so I add some modded maps to the mainmenu file, right? No problem. However, I don't know how to make my XBox read from E:\Games instead of the TDATA folders.

I suppose that's what I need to do? I add the modded maps to the menu, but it reads the map in TDATA instead of the map in E:\Games, so obviously the mods aren't there.

Any help would be appreciated.

In order to play from e:/games you first need to copy the halo2 disk to your harddrive. Assuming that you already did that based on what you said now when you mod a map insted of overwriting the map in the TDATA folder just overwrite the one in E:/Games and then your map will be there instead.

So there is no way to play from the disc and have it read the maps in the E:\Games? I don't have a lot of HDD space. I probably have enough room for the maps, but that's about it. The actual game is a bit too big to fit with the other game I already have there.

So could I put say 2-3 maps in the E:\Games folder and play off the disc, but direct it to find the maps like Sanctuary in the E:\Games folder rather than TDATA? This doesn't allow for modding of the older maps, but until my new HDD comes in, it's all I can do.

Then do what I did. I FTPed the whole disc to my computer HDD and then i just deleted like all the campaign maps adnn extra stuff you dont need to play the game then i FTPed the rest of the disc that I had created to the Games folder so that i could load up halo from the HDD and i still had HDD space.

Hm, I guess that would work. I'll have to check and see how large the file is without all the extras. Thanks for that.

Is there no way to store the ones I want to mod in E:\Games, play off the disc, and have it read from that folder, though?

Playing modding non TDATA maps off of disc: Impossible.

-Note you could always mod them, then simply burn the game to a DVD with the modded maps, but if your a Live user, it wont work.
