halo 2 skinning
hi im new to skinning so i need to know what programs i need to skin and how to skin (vehicle's and entire maps)

open dothalo, find the bitmap you want to change(example the warthog tag), extract the bitmap. then open it in photoshop or whatever program you are using, edit it then save it as the same type of dds file it originally was. go back to dot halo and inject it back into the map. if you are doing the warthog or anything else that says its external, and your doing it on somthing other than the shared.map you need to make it internal using the bitmap internalizer program.(example- changing the hog only on your coag map needs to be internalized) then clear you cach and sign your map and ftp it to your xbox.i think thats about it. to open a dds file in photo shop you need to get the dds plugin. if you are using anything else get convim to convert dds to jpeg, then get DXTBmp to convert jpeg to all forums of dds.

warhog chassis for coag also the scenario stuff
also do you guys have any idea why the move box doesnt appear when i drag and drop in insolence (ive selectied so its highlighted then drag it to the map i want like im trying to get back washs sky to coagulation)

Make sure you have mainmenu.map and shared.map and single_player_shared.map and if you do and dothalo still isnt working then try using ADI by TheSwampFox. and for the drag and drop after you drag it a box should pop up that says you need to locate either singleplayershared.map or mainmenu.map or shared.map and then a box will pop up that says moving objects then relinking.

how do i extract the bitmap with ADI and do i have to have shared, single player shared and mainmenu in the same folder?

not that i know of. open insolence then the two maps you're using. next click the sky tag (for the sky) then click the little black paper on the left side of the (scenarios/sky/...) so that the paper now says EDIT and then click and hold over the scenarios/sky/... and then drag it onto the other map and let go so that the moving and relinking box shows up. tell me if it works for you.

if you dont have shared.map, singleplayershared.map, and mainmenu.map in your folder that contains the maps you are editing then you will get an unhandelled exception so make sure that you have them in the same folder.
For insolence it only transfers things for me when it's a new map and has no previous changes so try transfering to a new map, but if yours was already new then i cant really help you.
