Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

SolidWorks, Anyone Famliliar with it?

Post by IADestr0yer »

I was browsing around and stumbled upon Solidworks ToolBox (2003), and plugins for the Alias|Wavefront (obj). Anyone know if SolidWorks is anygood, or how it competes with other common editors; Maya, , or 3d Studio max?

Well im thinking its something like tha CAD applications, but I mean I am not going to buy this, and if i'll get it, then i'll be waiting 20 hours for the file to download, and I don't like trials ...that is if there is one. I'll just skip it because I'm not all that big on the modelling.

I work with solidworks every day. Have been for about 4 years now. Could you be so kind to let me know where to find that plug-in, cause learnin this other modelling software is makin me crazy.. I could make things much much easier in SW as I am now quite proficient with it.

Also SW is a very powerful 3d solid modeler that is also capable of surfacing. In the CAD world it is the same as Maya, 3ds Max are to the gaming modelling world. As far as it being able to properly inject models without missing surfaces, I don't know. So far I have tried a few diff ways to translate, and so far end up with garbage coming in.
