How did sarge survive

After MC and Cortana escaped halo they did a scan around halo and found no one alive and the bonus scene puts sarge on halo as the ship explodes but hes still alive on halo 2... can anyone tell me why?

he had some plasma grenade disease thingy. It made him able to breathe in space or something, idk, i just got h2

Dust & Echos were alive. Maybe the bonus scene wasn't meant to be part of the storyline and he got off with either Dust or Echos?

Dust and echos means like dust (you know from rocks) and just echos from the explosion. I think

It's just like Hyperdash said before: Bungie screwed up.
Remember in Halo 2 the 'Armoury' level where the marine guy is briefing you about everything etc etc then Johnson walks in and the marine asks, "how did you make it back alive?"
Johnson replies with "that's classified".

Yah but I think the part that sarge was on was the part that was blown off. In legendary it shows him right next to the POA.

I have to comment on the ending, why wasnt the elite shooting the marine, and, because i know nothing about halo's story line after halo 1, what and where is halo 2?

there was a hog near the POA?....

not really but I was creating a story about how sarge escaped and since halo didn't tell us I want this forum to be about peoples ideas on how he did and I've submitted mine
