Modding downloaded maps....

I was wondering if you need the game downloaded to the HDD drive to mod the new maps. I am asking because I can't get dvd2xbox to work and when I have the game in the XBOX doesn't show up in the D drive. Any help would be appreciated.

u dont need halo 2 on ur hard drive 2 mod the new maps but u do need a special encypter 2 mod them
