need assistance plz!!

I cannot join any of the games in halo custom. i can host games but cant play across anyones server!?! it says in the message log that i need a manual update but when i try it makes the game unusable and i have to download it again anyone got any clues?

Uninstall it then Reinstall it and then update it.
