Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

I Need Somebody To Help Me With Mapping (PLEEEEEAAAASE)

Post by Hiei3 »

Ok, I've tried following the video tutorials, but first off, both of my versions of Paint Shop Pro doesn't have the mask thing I need when I'm doing the first part, where you draw the ground texture. You need to click the 2 masks or whatever, but PSP7 and PSPX don't have that. Also, I'm using MilkShape instead of 3DS Max. The video (I think the second one, but it might be the first), you are making the skybox. It says to highlight to sides of the cube you make, or something. But GMax seems to be missing that feature. Somebody please help me. I don't care if it's email, PM, or AIM. I just really need help with this. Thanks.

EDIT: Ok, nevermind, I found the whole mask thing or whatever in PSPX. So now my only problem is MilkShape.

Well, I edited it and changed it from GMax to MilkShape, I messed up. But I'm not sure if MilkShape has that function either. I'll check. But if not, I'll use GMax. But then, how do I "think around the corner"? Lol, I'm not good at that stuff =P. I'd love to have 3DS Max, but I dont have $3000, and well, lets just say I can't find a good source of the "other way", and Im not going to continue to look, seeing as I dont feel like getting fined =P. Anyway, if I can't find it on MilkShape, I'll probably be back to find help. Lol. Thanks.

follow the video tuts and the tut that comes with hek with gmax not that hard just do what the tut says its the same in gmax. when it says highlight the sides of the skybox in the tut the face selected in the perspective box changes red that doesnt happen with gmax. just select the sides by clicking ingnore backfacing and select the two faces.

Oooooooo ok. Thanks a whole bunch. Now that that's solved, I should be fine. Thanks again you guys. My first map will probably almost a replica of Splinter from the video tuts (because I'm following everything exactly), so of course I wont post it, then I'm going right into making my own first map, which, will be something a lot like the island from the book "Lord of the Flies". So, I hope to have that started soon. Thanks again, can't tell you how excited I am. I have to get off for tonight, but tomorrow I'll start from scratch on Splinter from the tutorials just to see how everything works, then I'm going to start on LotF Island. Thanks.
