Sound extracting

Post by UberNube »

I am trying to make a Halo 2D game using Game Maker and I have sucsessfully extracted the sound files. However some are in .ogg format (I have a WMP codec but can't use these in Game Maker) and others are in .wav file but I can't open them. Do you have any suggestions for getting them into .wav , .mp3 or other common format.

BTW I just tried it and it worked for the .ogg files and they r fine now but It didn't work for the malfunctioning .wav files which just don't play any sound.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this topic is a bit old, but how did you get the Halo 2 sound files? If you got them from the game maps, how did you get them out? Thanx :)

Rite, but he was talking about making a Halo 2 mod, so I'm assuming he got the sound effects from Halo 2. The question is how do you go about doing that?

shared.map

and

single_player_share.map

contain the halo 2 bitmaps, models, and sounds.

ah-hah! That was part of the problem. I was trying to extract the sounds directly from the maps themselves. Phenomenon, you're a genius! Has Dot Halo been updated recently? It's been a few months since i've messed around with it. It's a great program, but really I was hoping they'd make an HMT for Halo 2.
