Xbox Hardware Help

Post by Captain »

Hey all,

I've been registered here for like... ever, but haven't posted but a few times. I'm not a noob to halo PC modding or Halo CE mapping (http://captain.novanets.com), but I am a huge noob as far as xbox modding and hardware is concerned. Now, I know I should probably ask this on more like xbox-scene or something... but I can't seem to get to the site at the moment, and really... I like the halo community better ;)

Heres my problem:

About a month ago I turned on my xbox only for it to glitch and give me the beautiful "christmas lights" effect where my LED ring of light flashes green, red, green, red, ext. It was error code 11, which I found out meant my DVD-Rom was probably a worthless piece of crap and i'm pretty sure it is... I tried using my own DVD drive I use in my PC by splitting the power from the hard drive. The system came up, but it wouldn't load any games. So i'm wondering what I can do about this... is there some way I can use a new hard drive without a mod chip so I don't need the DVD-Rom? or is there a way to get my own DVD-Rom to work? or am I just screwed until the 22 when I can go pick up my 360?

you can use 2 hard drives but you need a modded xbox and the dvd drive from your computer most likely won't work unless its a samsung 616t or something like that

Sorry, but you're going to have to take it to Xbox-Scene.
And the site works fine.
