Idea on how to swap SP maps

Post by FUZZ »

I have been working on this for a while and I think I figured it out. I havent done it yet but im getting close. Its unbelievably hard though!!! I cant even begin to tell you how to do it. but what I think you have to do is when rebuilding a map change the substructure path to what you want it to, change the scenario path to multiplayer scenario, change the single player UI string to multiplayer, and fill in the rest but its hard to explain, and then add in all the multiplayer files<and that is the hardest part, cuz there is probly a good 2,000 multiplayer files in a batch extract. but if you rebuild it with all the files and dont get a popup message that says a file wasnt referenced then you got it. at least i think. so far i havent been able to do it without getting a popup saying that. Ill work on this more tommarrow cuz my head hurts from trying to figure this out :? so what do u guys think? does it have a chance of working? or am i wasting my time.

Good theory. The only problem I see is that when you rebuild it, the game doesnt know where the flags, spawns, etc are. I have no clue if Spark Edit would see them, but keep trying.

Maybe if you batch extracted a map (lets say...the T&R covie ship), and hand copyed all the multiplayer XML files there, changed the locations, and deleted the single player files, FMV scripts, etc it might work.

nice theory... It goes well next to my 'super map' theory (which probably doesnt work, but o well who cares :)

ok, here goes the super, super, uber freakin tiny version...

my idea was that you could batch extract two maps into the same folder and rebuild the first map. you would then have all the info from the second map in the first map...

I dont know how this would be useful, but at least you could use this to import vehicles without too much trouble. you would just have to edit the locations; you wouldnt have to add stuff in by hand...

the point is that it could be useful for when you are trying to move a large number of things from one map to another...
