jarhead.......

Post by JK-47 »

Warning to all, dont see the movie jarhead unless you like seeing marines getting steriotyped by hollywood.....

the movie made you get the impression that all they do is party, go crazy out of thier minds in the desert, point guns at eachother, and cry.....

I was so mad when i walked out of the theater because hollywood put a sticker on the marines entitled "crazy party animals" , and i know a lot of marines, in fact my uncle was one, and they never went crazy in the desert, they never pointed guns at eachother, they never cried because they didnt get to kill anyone....... jamie fox was the only REAL marine in the movie, thats how they all act, not just the staff seargent (my uncles rank) or the seargents....

No, if you watched the whole movie you'll realize it's kinda sad. It's based off the real life experience of a man during desert storm and it's accurate. In the end it shows basically what they came there to do and what happened, what training did to them and also the title. Most of this is explained in narration in the beginning and ending. If you failed to interpret that message then you're not mature enough for the movie.

I thought it was great, best line in the entire movie:
"What are you even doing in the marines son?"
"Sir, I got lost on the way to college, Sir!!!"

Well i supose my 40 year old dad who meets all these marines who WERE IN THAT WAR!!! including his own brother! mind you isnt mature enough for this movie either right?

Come back to me once you have talked to people who were in that war, dude the war was hardly anything at all (this was the iraqi war that senior bush created), all the troops did really was walked, shot the occasional people, but the jets mostly did the work.
And if training is the thing that made them depressed, point guns at eachother, and such did that to them then they dont deserve the name of a "marine"

Im not trying to be mean here btw, its just hollywood decides all, ALL! a buch of kids who walked out of that theater said "im going to be a marine if all it is is partying"

they are in for a big surprise once they get to training....

My brother was in it. It showed what the addiction turned the soldiers into, just feasting on any gunplay they could get. Like when the shells are exploding around him and he narrates how his combat mode was activated. And in the end, well I can't ruin it for anyone but the message ties in with the message in the beginning and the relavance to his girlfriend demonstrated one of the many consequences for being far away from home for a long time expecting to be doing something of importance and all they are doing is waiting.

Im not saying that i didnt change peoples lifes or anything, im just saying that they turned the marines into pigs dude, thats the matter of importance here. it makes a guy like me (couldnt kill a mouse) want me to join the marines to proove them wrong.
