So my router stopped working out of nowhere. I unplugged all the cables connected to the router and plugged everything directly into my desktop computer and it works. I tried plugging the ethernet cable to my iBook and it says, "Something something has a self-assigned IP and cannot connect to the internet" Hey, someone help. Hurry. It's killing me.
I'll write a creepy song about you and send you n00dz if you fix this.
Thread where someone fixes my router.

"Shake up!" The catterpillar cried.

I don't want a creepy song but do this:
You need to cycle the router and your modem. So unplug all the cables even the ones from the modem(but not the ahem well do you have CAble or Telephone?Don't unplug neither of them). Now after you unplug the opwercord of the modem wait 3 minutes then plug it in and wait about 1 minute. Then connect alkl cables and the router and turn it on(the router).

Damn i forgot that thing.Well anyway if you reset you have to renable the DMZ to host halo gamesSpartan Foods wrote:Most routers (like mine) save the settings when you kill the power. Find the reset button on your router and press and hold until it start blinking, or whatever its supposed to do.
Then just reconfigure your settings accordingly... If you know what they were...

Well I have a WRT54G, and it works like a charm.
Also DMZ might be potentially unsafe, becuase it forwards all the ports, and people can use open ports to hack your computer, etc.
I would recommend, enabling port forwarding for the specific ports that your multiplayer games require. Otherwise if you are willing to go with the risk, just go with DMZ. I'm not anti-DMZ as I have used it before, just thought I'd give the "desclaimer" with it.
