Ok, before anyone starts flaming me about not searching these forums, let it be known I have searched and I have read what material I could find on this subject. The problem is that the information I need isn't specific enough in the other posts, so I'm going out on a limb and asking you guys for some help.
I have a little experience in modding this strange game called Halo for the PC. I have a warthog and a grenade launcher that I would like to change the names of. I know that I have to use a hex editor and search for warthog or rocket launcher and change those thingies. I get that part. The problem I am having trouble with is if I exchange my new warthog for say, the ghost, do I change the name .G.h.o.s.t. to something or what?
Yes, very long, roundabout way of asking the question, but I figure this way, if anyone wants to help me, this might make it a little easier to answer. So, if anyone can help... I would be much appreciative.
Vehicle and Weapon Names
Well, I figured out that if you change .g.h.o.s.t, then it will change the ghost, not this warthog. The new hog uses what appears to be the same hud message as the normal warthog. My real question, I guess, is how do I have the map recognize this new hog seperately to be able to rename it? I can't seem to find the right stuff to do this. Any suggestions?

Ok, I added a hog, and because the maps can only handle a certain number of vehicles, I went into the globals and scenario xml files and replaced the vehicle entry for the ghost with this new hog. That way, on BG instead of putting a ghost, it puts this new hog. Ok, well, I am trying to figure out how to put another vehicle label into the map file. Like .w.a.r.t.h.o.g or .g.h.o.s.t and instead of changing all of the names of the vehicles that use those hud messages (hope I got the terminology right), I am hoping to change the name of one warthog. This way I can go to the new hog and it'll tell me that I can enter whatever seat of <enter new hog name here> instead of just using the generic name Warthog, but keeping the regular warthog's name Warthog. Does that long winded explaination make sense?
