i've been trying to figure out how to change the map preview picture when changing game settings in halo 2. i found the pictures in the mainmenu.map and was able to inject over them. now i want to be able to re assign which bitmap a map uses for its preview picture.
there are 50 multiplayer bitmaps (0-49) and 20 campaign bitmaps (0-19), so obviously that leaves many of them blank and unused. i want to be able to assign a new map or multiplayer tab to one of the blank bitmaps that i inject my own picture into. the bitmaps are in ui\code_global_bitmaps in the mainmenu.map.
i know this has been done before (Allied Map Pack), so any help is very much appreciated. i've searched everywere for any info, but have found very little. Thanks

i dont think it has anything to do with your prog. or even opening the .map file well it may have a little to do with it but i remember a tutorial said you can go in your folder and say display hidden items or something and it will show the icons and then you can change the icon of your .map file to that icon so instead of the unknown file icon its the map preview like on your xbox but im not positive that would do what you want if you edited it and ftp'ed it but its worth a trystill life wrote:...right.
by the way, i'm using Ch2r.

i appreciate what you are doing, but i don't think you understand what i am asking specifically. the multiplayer maps access their preview pics from the mainmenu.map, where my modified bitmap would be. i just need to know how to change which bitmap it is told to access.
i added that i am using Ch2r because someone might know a better way to do it with another program. thats all.
also, it would be much easier to understand you if you didn't reply in long, vague sentences - your entire post is one long sentence and you gave me no specific answers.
