HTC

Post by peabnuts123 »

I am thinking of making a program(actually i am going to make it no matter what, unless it gets too many no votes)called HTC, and i was just wondering what you people think about the name of it.

It is going to be called HTC, Halo Tutorial Center.
As you can probably guess from the name, it is a program that teaches n00bs how to make mods for halo.(BTW you dont have to be a n00b, its just aimed at n00bs, like the wording etc.)

So, what do you think of the name, it took me a while to think it up but i got it eventually.

I am also lookin for good tutorial writers to write the tutorials, if you have one, post the name of it on this board and e-mail it to me at [email protected].

If you dont agree with this and i only get a few volunteers to write i will write the tutorials myself.

i will be putting the tutorials into a program, so it will be easier to read each one rather than load each page, especially for n00bs and people with slow connections.

well that almost makes sense... but ppl w/ slow connections still have to get the program and so do n00bs and we all know they cant do much right and then youd have to redistribute your program everytime you get a new tut, im not trying to flame you or anything but i think itd just be easier to make a tutorial website. you could even put in a tut search feature
:D

Sounds like it will help people start their modding without forum spamming.
Good idea.

what u could do is make it a group of videos that u can interact with like all the tuts are videos so they can see exactly where to click and stuff then they can hit a button and it says "im i going too fast?" and back up, could have a test page too and stuff, and could just keep getting more vids

I voted "good program, wrong name" or something like that.
If I look at the current name, it would appear to me that this is a program revolving around tutorials for Halo gameplay. I'd call it Halo Modding Tutorial Center :p

Seriously, though, it might make the difference.

What are you gonna use to make the program by the way?

well, im gonna use c++, if that fails then i have no idea.
any suggestions?

p.s i thought of halo modding tutorial center, but that would be HMTC and i think ive herd that b4 somewhere, but maybe im just thinkin of HMT.
i am taking it under serious advisement.

I'm very good at c++ if you need me. I can make calculators from memory in a compiler. If you need me IM me. I think I could help.

I agree with darkstorm, it would be far far far more efficient and logical to create your 'tutorial trove' using a method different than integrating it into a program. There's really no point to trying to make a C++ program that displays tutorials. Another good way would be to use Microsoft's HMTLHelp to create a HTML help file that contains all the topics and tutorials you want. You can this distribute the compiled help file and everybody with IE 4.0 or better should be able to view your tutorials simply by opening the .chm (compiled help file). The tutorials would work well as a website too.
