how do you make a .dds pic?

Is a .dds a picture file that the xbox reads or something? I saw this topic, but I didnt understand most of it. http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=37812 what program do i use to make a picture for the map preview pic, and how do i add it?

I think .dds stands for direct draw surface, and yes, I believe they are an integral part of Halo/Halo 2...

and to make them, try googling it... Im sure theres a program out there you *half brains* can find.

ok, i found a plugin for photoshop, but how do i get the picture?
