Ok, I am still pretty much a NOOB. I can change projectiles, shoot vehicles, flying hogs, superjump, superfast. Now that I have all these mods done, I wanted to make my map show up in the mainmenu. I use DotHalo for pretty much all I do.
1st problem
I use Hex Workshop (tried hex editor too). I opened my map and changed the scenarios\multi\ascension\ascension to scenarios\multi\mymap\mymap and zeroed and spaces left (just like in the TUT). I saved and closed the map. Instead of opening mainmenu in DotHalo, I open mymap (the one I just hex edited), I go to the scenarios tag and it is still the same ex; scenarios\multi\ascension\ascension. That is just to check. Even if I don't do that and just hex edit the map and open the mainmenu in DotHalo, add the map and all, fix encription, and close. I then FTP it into my box and go to play it (it show up) and I either fail to load map, loads to 0 and goes back to mainmenu, or it loads normal ascension. I have tried 3 diff. tutorials and one is by Falkem (the guy who created DotHalo). All 3 tut's are the same basically the same (one even has pics). I am doing everything exactly as it show in the TUT. Can anybody help me one this one.
If anybody has succesfully done this: check the map that you renamed and go to the scenario and see if it says scenarios\multi\(what you call it)\(what you call it). That is just to verify that I need it to say that before editing the mainmenu in DotHalo.
2nd problem
Just got photoshop and the plugin to reskin guns and stuff. I extract it recolor it and save it. I go into DotHalo and inject the newly colored skin. It show my new skin in DotHalo. I fix encription and close and FTP back into the box and play map, everything that should be re-colored is not.
Any help on any of these two would be appreciated. I have spent 2 days trying to do this. 1 day for the mainmenu thing and 1 day for the reskinning. WTF am I doing wrong. I have followed several tutorials about both exactly to the T and still get no satisfactory results.

Same problems I had.
Answer to 1st problem:
It is failing to load becauseof bungie's AU. What you need to do is go to E:\TDATA\4d530064\$u and change all the filenames so it has a 1 next to it. (EX: contentmeta1.xbx, default1.xbe, downloader1.xbe) Make sure you change the filenames back before signing on Halo 2 again
Answer to 2nd problem:
Whenever you RESKIN something you MUST clear the cache. To do this, FTP into your xbox, go to the Z drive and delete everything in it. Your levels will take about 30 secs to load, this is normal.
Hope this helps.

God thank you soo much. I will try to do all that when I get home (at work now). I tried to delete my cache last night. I deleted everything in the X folder (Z was empty & Y was irrelevent), when I did this I could not load any of the maps at all. Even the ones saved to the HD (not saved from disc). When I tried this it would fail, and I think I went back and deleted my cache at least 3 times. After failing all those times I just loaded the disc to get the cache back up. Any tips for deleting the cache.

What I do to delete cahce is go to Z drive (refresh the folder if you dont see anything) and delete everything inside the Z drive and only the Z drive.
Also when you rename those files the new maps (the one you downloaded from content download) wont be on the map list. What you need to do to show them on the mainmenu is manually save those maps into the maps folder and add the names on the mainmenu. Search the forums, you can find a mainmenu ppf that has the new maps added already.
