ftp help

i need help getting my ftp to work. i did exactly what 3 tutorials said, but hwen i try to connect, it jsut times out. on my computer, my LAC isn't working, saying a network cable is unplugged. i've tried both my IP's xobx and pc and als hte gateway. none worked. can anyone give me moredetails on what i should have my settings set too???

pc os- windows XP
xbox - softmodded with EvoX
