My cpu
i have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ with Geil Dual Channel 1GB RAM and when i have my front side but at 166 with a multiplier of 12.5 which makes 2.08GHz and when windows loads it gets unstable and the hard drive shuts down and the computer restarts. I have my cpu at 1.2GHz which is the only speed its stable. the ONLY thing thats old in my computer is my hard drive which is 6 years old (yes i said 6). I think that my hard drive is not able to keep up with the cpu and is getting overloaded by the processor. please post or pm me on the problem.... thank you
my pc: AMD Athlon XP 2800+, Geil Dual Channel 1GB RAM, GeForce MX 440 with AGP 8x (soon to be GeForce 6600 128MB AGP 8x), integrated audio from my mobo (supposed to be better than a soundblaster live), a Samsung SpinPoint P Series 80GB hard drive

Re: My cpu
I have a similar setup. Could be your processor overheating(My AMD AThlon XP 2500+ Barton overclocked nicely, but you need a decent fan). If it is the heat, try the Vantec AeroFlow. Works great, I have it. It may be your HD. I dunno.

The 6600 GT 128 agp is my exact card, and you're right, it runs great. Glad I didn't get the 6600 regular. My Intel cpu is P3 1 ghz, and I still get around 40 fps at evreything maxed out in 1600 x 1200. Awesome card.Wilson_Chung wrote:That's weird. I've never had that problem before.. But you're getting a 6600 agp 8x? You're wasting your money. 6600 is 200 bucks, the 6600 gt is 250 bucks but the 6600 gets about 20 fps in halo in 1024 x 768, while the 6600 gt gets 60 - 100 and sometimes higher.
