If it's part of a sniper rifle, then you definitely don't want your hands near it... I can't place the function of the holes, especially the big on on the side... It would have to be some sort of casing...

That side hole pretty much has to be an ejection port or cocking lever, um, placey thing. (You can tell I'm topping English
