Is there a way?

Hey, I'm a n00b to halomods seeing as I just softmodded my xbox yesterday, but is there anyway to apply new maps and patches to Halo 2 without ripping the game to your HD and then using FTP?
I thought about ripping the game and then burning it with the maps but google is telling me that PC can't read XBOX disks. Could you download Halo 2 off of BT and then place the maps in that ISO?
This would be a real help, as I have like 10 different browser windows open trying to research this stuff.
